In this series of paintings, the form of animal eyes are used as both the compositional element and the focal point of the canvas. The eyes are enlarged and seamlessly integrated into the rest of the composition, resulting in a sense of harmony and unity. Abstraction is created by incorporating color, texture, and form. The depth and movement of the abstraction draws the viewer‘s attention to the animal‘s gaze and evokes a sense of connection and empathy.
These paintings were displayed in a stall for cows and goats, with the intention of creating a dialogue between the depicted animal eyes and those of the real animals. The installation encouraged the animals to observe the paintings, while also inviting them to engage with the artwork and explore the world beyond their pens. The animals, captivated by the vibrant colors and curious shapes, were drawn to the paintings. In turn, the paintings seemed to gaze back at the animals, fostering a connection between the depicted eyes and their living counterparts.
