The canvas takes up the motif of the tabletop, in several layers and perspectives. Constructive elements can be seen in the corners. Figures sit at the table. Bottles are held, and communication takes place. The (painter‘s) eye is in motion and leads us through the scenes. The noticeable color change, the bright light, and the dark shadow areas are striking. The lighting changes as well as the perspective because it is not about a moment but about „24 hours,“ a whole period depicted simultaneously in changing light. The expanded concept of painting therefore necessarily includes movement in space and time and the perceptible changes that result from it. And finally, the presentation of the canvas painted on the ground as a fixed object in space is a consistent consequence of these considerations. The tension straps expand the image object and connect it to its surroundings. You can walk around the picture like a table – and thus supplement the image idea with your own spatial perception.
